2015: A Year without Becky, but our Hope and Mission Continues

As we look back to 2015, it is with mixed emotions that we celebrate the success of this years camp. Being our first year without the presence of Becky, this years camp was especially unique as we dedicated a small part to her memory. We are so thankful for the volunteers, counselors and supporters that made the camp, at Valea Draganului, a success. This year, we also sponsored 7 leaders to participate in classes as observers. They were placed amongst other counselors during team time and formation in hopes that they too can be equipped as future counselors.

Serving almost 100 people who came to find hope, community and resources, we are filled with joy that we were able to provide these needy families with a weeks retreat, watching God work in their personal lives. We witnessed families coming together and learning how to support each other as they deal with hardships on a regular basis. We were all united in Love through the reading of the scriptures, worshiping in song, and group sessions with counselors.

Below are two testimonies from those that attended.

Paula Lazar (Cluj) Paula left camp with a new perspective. “For me this camp meant a new way, a way without compromise, with restoration in life and in my relationships with others. In camp, I was introduced to God in an amazing way. I truly understand who He is and who I am in His eyes. I learned not to allow myself to be overcome by emotions, but to place them in His hands.    I learned to live a FREE life.”

Victoria (Iasi) My name is Victoria. I am 26 years old and I am Orthodox. All my life I fought with my emotions which has trapped me in my guilt, and I felt condemned. Here at camp, I understood to give Jesus my present emotional state, because only He can heal me. I understand now that forgiveness is a choice, and I forgive all of those who have wounded me in life. I found Jesus who offers me a bright future and destiny.

We would like to express appreciation to all the Evangelical Churches that have supported us throughout this ministry, making known the vision of Becky’s Hope. We would like to thank those of you who have sustained us with prayer and financial resources.

Be blessed,

In Christ Lidia and Mircea Oprean

"The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'" Matthew 25:40

Visit with Chris

One of my most precious memories is meeting a young man named Chris. Fifteen years ago, Chris was celebrating his success of opening up a night club by going to the Black Sea. While he was there, he suffered an accident that broke his neck, leaving him paralyzed. As a quadriplegic, Chris was dealing with this new challenge without the Lord in his life. During one of our mission trips, Becky and I went to visit with him at the hospital. Soon after, his mother, Maria, attended the retreats and became acquainted with Cornelia, a dedicated representative of Becky's Hope and my precious sister.  Because of Cornelia's love and invested time, Chris and his mother became believers two years later. Maria was not able to attend the retreat this year as she was diagnosed with cancer. We ask for prayer for her and we are joyful for their strong and continued faith.
